The Daily Money: Here's how to save on Cyber Monday

Good morning and welcome back to the work week after the Thanksgiving break. This is Betty Lin-Fisher with today's The Daily Money.

If you missed out on shopping for Black Friday and this weekend, today is Cyber Monday, so you've got more shopping opportunities.

According to a National Retail Federation survey, Black Friday still reigns supreme for the busiest day of shopping, with the trade organization forecasting that 131.7 million people (or 72% of Thanksgiving weekend shoppers), hitting stores that day. But Cyber Monday still has plenty of people looking for deals and checking off their lists with 39% of respondents, or 72.3 million people, planning to shop.

According to an Adobe Analytics report from this weekend, consumers purchased $10.8 billion on Black Friday just in online purchases. That's an increase of 10% from a year ago.

As you're doing your shopping today and through the rest of the season, here are some tips on how to stack extra savings or earn some cash back while doing your shopping.

Go ahead, give a gift card as a present

Can't think of what gift to get your loved one? Thinking about a gift card?

The hottest gift this holiday season may be one of the easiest to buy, reports my colleague Bailey Schulz.

Turns out shoppers don’t need to spend hours browsing online or combing through clothing racks to find a suitable present. Research shows people love receiving gift cards – even if some shoppers are hesitant to give them.

Here's why shoppers – and retailers – love gift cards.

Finally, here's a popular story from earlier this year that you may have missed. Feel free to share it.

This might be an appropriate one to reshare on Cyber Monday – shh, don't share with the boss (or maybe your boss is also shopping!)

Is today a work-in-the-office day for you, a hybrid day or are you an all-remote worker?

What do remote and hybrid workers do all day? My colleague Jessica Guynn wrote about a survey earlier this fall with surprising revelations.

It's also not just the workers: managers and executives shopped online more frequently than individuals, according to the survey.

You'd be surprised at some things workers and managers also do while "working."
