Hot Frosty? Try hot Santa. Target heats up the holidays with Kris K. commercials
Target has a new "weirdly hot" Santa Claus and the internet is swooning.
Kris K., Target's newest team member featured in the retailer's latest holiday ads, loves the holidays "way more than the next guy."
"Actually, way more than anyone we know. Actually, more than anyone anyone knows," says Target about Kris K. (you know what that stands for). "But hey, that’s not important. What is, is that shiny red Bronco and perfectly coiffed beard."
Target, in a playful departure from its traditional holiday advertising, began dropping the ads in November featuring actor and model Brent Bailey as the Target employee, aka Kris. K, who looks vaguely like the jolly ole elf − but in a more rugged, more muscular way.
Target ads introduce 'weirdly hot' Santa
The ads, with titles like "Born to Be Kris" and "He's Hot, But These Turkey Deals Are Hotter," showcase Kris K., dressed in a tight quarter-zip red sweater and khaki pants with silver hair who exudes confidence and charm.

While “Born to Be Kris” shows the 41-year-old actor driving to a Target in a red Ford Bronco with a “Sleigh” license plate on the back, the "He’s Hot" commercial shows him approaching a customer buying a turkey and telling someone on the phone she "can't believe turkeys are only 79 cents a pound this year." Upon seeing Kris K., the woman tells the person on the phone that she just met Santa Claus who is “weirdly hot.”
On YouTube, the 15-second ad has been viewed more than seven million times.
A third ad for Target's Black Friday sale shows Kris doing bicep curls with a miniature Christmas tree, while a fourth shows Kris discussing Cyber Monday discounts with a colleague and almost giving away his secret. On Tuesday, Target released another ad with Santa talking to his reindeer about how much he loves gifts.
"Kris is always joyful, helpful, charismatic, funny and whimsical and emphasizes exactly how Target’s store team members play a defining role in its unique Target guest experience throughout the holiday season," Target said about Kris in a news release.
The internet simps over Target's 'hot Santa'
Though the ads and campaign, part of Target's plan to make holiday shopping more magical, dropped last month, the videos featuring Bailey began gaining more traction on social media in December.
"Since when did Santa become a HOT Lumberjack?!" one user wrote on X.
Another X user wrote: "So… Target Santa, amirite? (Put me on the naughty list please)."
"This is exactly what I didn’t know I needed this holiday," an Instagram user commented under Bailey's post.
"Target wins the Christmas ads this year!" an Instagram user commented on Target's video. "Loving the Santa!"
"Target Santa" is also particularly popular on TikTok.
"Me suddenly in the Christmas spirit after seeing Target's Santa this year," one creator said in a video.
"Okay so Target definitely understood the assignment!" another TikTok user said.
Target Santa featured on Jimmy Fallon
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, while appearing on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," actor Amy Adams also talked about Target Santa being sexy.
While playing a game, Adams asked Fallon: "Tell me why People's 'Sexiest Man Alive' should be Santa Claus."
"That's because John Krasinski is Sexiest Man Alive. His initials are JK," Fallon responded. "So, Santa Claus, just kidding."
To which, Adams said: "My answer to that would have been 'Target Santa.'"
"So, if you don't know Target Santa, yeah, go look it up," she added.
The attention has not escaped Kris, who in a short clip, is seen reading all the comments before toasting a glass of milk.
Will there be more Target Santa ads?
A total of nine ads were planned for television, social media, and streaming platforms, according to Target's press release, as the company aims to create a memorable holiday campaign. Five of them have already dropped on Target's various social media platforms.
The Target Santa sweater is available at Target
Kris' sweater has also gained popularity on social media, with many users asking Target to reveal which one he's wearing. Target, in a comment on TikTok, said their Santa is wearing the "X RAY Men's Ribbed Mock Neck Quarter-Zip Sweater" in Burgundy. The sweater is currently on sale on Target's website and is available for $24.99.
Who is Target Santa Brent Bailey?
