Ram, Honda, GM, Volkswagen, Tesla among 660,000 vehicles recalled: Check car recalls here

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for more than 315,000 Ram trucks recalled for a brake system issue.

Tesla recall over lights malfunction

Tesla is recalling 25 of its 2024 Model X crossover SUVs because the parking lights and low-beam headlights may flicker. By the lights not sufficiently illuminating the roadway, the risk of a crash increases, the company said in a NHTSA report.

Tesla released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 31, 2025. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-017.

McLaren recalls supercar for rear window issue

McLaren is recalling 163 of its 2021 765LT Coupe vehicles because the rear cabin window may have insufficient adhesive bonding, which can allow the window to detach from the support frame. A detached window could increase the risk of a crash, NHTSA said in a recall report.

Dealers will install bespoke fasteners into each corner of the polycarbonate panel, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed Dec. 4. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 6. Owners may contact McClaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916. McClaren's number for this recall is 2024/002.

Volkswagen recalls Audi models for fire risk  

Volkswagen is recalling 4,616 of its 2022-2023 Audi Q5 PHEV hybrid SUVs and 2022 Audi A7 PHEV hybrid sedans because the high-voltage battery may overheat, the vehicle manufacturer said in the NHTSA recall report.  

If a high-voltage battery overheats, it will increase the potential for a fire, the report said. 

Volkswagen dealers will install advanced diagnostic software as the final remedy, the report said. The report also states that the remedy should be available in the second quarter of 2025.

Volkswagen will monitor the online vehicle data to advise the drivers not to charge the vehicle until the battery can be replaced, the report said. For vehicles in which online data is unavailable, owners are advised not to charge their batteries until the final remedy becomes available. Repairs will be performed for free.

Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be delivered by Jan. 24, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Volkswagen Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 93AA.

General Motors recalls Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra for unlatched tailgate  

General Motors is recalling 132,037 of its vehicles that are equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. 

The automotive manufacturer said in the NHTSA report that the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion. This can cause the tailgate to unlatch while the vehicle is in park, the report said.  

An unsecured tailgate may open and create a loss in unsecured cargo, possibly causing a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash, the report said.

Owners with the recalled GM vehicles are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. To fix the issue, dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies for free, the report said.

Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan. 13, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N242469160. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA Recall 24V-060.

Honda recalls Passport, Pilot for potential fuel leak 

Honda is recalling 205,760 of its Passport and Pilot vehicles.  

In the NHTSA report the automobile company said that the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe may separate which can cause a fuel leak. 

A fuel leak near an ignition source increases the risk of a fire, the report said.  

Honda dealers will inspect and repair the fuel filler neck tube and pipe as necessary for free, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is OKM.

Stellantis recalls Ram trucks over brake issue 

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 317,630 of its vehicles, the NHTSA report said.  

The automobile company said that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail which can cause the anti-lock brake (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control systems to fail. 

A loss of the ABS, ESC or traction control systems can cause an increased risk of a crash, the report said. 

To fix the issue, dealers will replace the brake HCU for free, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 9, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is C4B.
