Raw pork sausage and bologna recalled: Over 10,000 pounds of meat included in separate recalls

Nearly 10,000 pounds of raw pork sausage and bologna were included in two separate recalls, federal officials announced.

Meat from Baltimore-based Impero Foods & Meats and Oklahoma-based Ralph's Packing Company were included in the recalls, the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

These items were shipped to restaurants and retailers in at least four states, according to the USDA.

Here's what to know about both recalls including where the products have been sold, which meats are affected and what to do if you bought any impacted items.

Impero Foods recall

Impero Foods & Meats, Inc., is recalling nearly 7,599 pounds of raw pork sausage products that were produced without federal inspection, the USDA announced.

The items were produced from Oct. 3 through Dec. 19 and bear the establishment number “EST. 10827.”

Recalled are:

  • 10-lb. white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “rope” handwritten on the case. 
  • 10-lb. white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “link” handwritten on the case. 

These items were shipped to restaurants and retailers in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Some products may have been sold at retail deli counters without labels or other identification.

Ralph's Packing company recall

Ralph's Packing Company is recalling just over 3,100 pounds of ready-to-eat pork and beef bologna products due to misbranding and because the product may contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on its label, the USDA announced.. 

The ready-to-eat pork and beef garlic bologna items were produced since September 2022, may be frozen and bear establishment number “EST. 51557.”

Recalled are:

  • 16-oz. or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA” with lot codes 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132, and 3483.
  • 16-oz. or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA with Jalapenos” with lot codes 0804, 1074, 1224, 1233, 1354, 2184, and 3374.

These items were shipped to retail and food service locations in Oklahoma. Some products may have been sliced and sold at retail deli counters.

Anyone who purchased any of the recalled products should throw it away.
