New Year's Day is a holiday but many retailers are open. Among them: Dollar General.

On the first day of 2025, you may need groceries, a snack or just want to go shopping. The good news is that you have plenty of options because most restaurant, grocery and retail chains will be open on Wednesday, Jan. 1, although some may have adjusted hours.

However, banks, post offices, shipping services and the stock market are not open because of the federal holiday.

Dollar General, which has more than 20,500 stores across the U.S., will be open. You can check for Dollar General store hours on the Dollar General website and in the Dollar General app.

For the holiday season, Dollar General began offering a new same-day delivery service called DG Delivery at a few of its stores.

You can check to see if that's still available at a Dollar General near you on the Dollar General website or mobile app. On the website, click the dropdown menu at the top of the website for which store you'd like to select. Then, click "Find delivery store." Then, input the delivery address to see if the retailer offers the service nearby.
