The Daily Money: A safe space for home buyers

Good morning! It’s Daniel de Visé with your Daily Money.

It was just another weekday on Reddit when a user named anymajordude23 weighed in to share their experience.

“Made an offer on our dream home, at list price, on the day offers were due,” they wrote. The user went on to recount how the seller rejected the offer, even though there were no others.

Welcome to r/FirstTimeHomeBuyer, a little corner of the internet offering community, education, and a place to vent – nicely – for people still trying to take a stab at the American Dream in one of the toughest housing markets in recent history.

Sales fall short of Target

Target could use some holiday cheer from shoppers after the retailer reported a decline in sales over the last three months, and expectations of a lackluster holiday shopping season.

Shoppers didn't spend as much on apparel and other discretionary products during the three-month period ending Nov. 2. Target also forecasts flat comparable sales during the current fourth quarter, which includes the holiday shopping season, a troublesome sign for the retail industry as a whole.

Finally, here's a popular story from earlier this year that you may have missed. Read it! Share it!

Bath & Body Works recently pulled a seasonal candle from its shelves after complaints that the snowflake design on its label resembled Ku Klux Klan hoods.

The design was meant to be a nod to a folded snowflake cutout, but some folks online dubbed it the Klandle and the KKKandle for the pair of cutout holes in the white pointed snowflake tips.
