The Daily Money: Coming soon: Stargate AI

Good morning! It’s Daniel de Visé with your Daily Money.

"Stargate" is an evocative term. It's the title of a 1994 Kurt Russell film, and the code name for a secret 1970s Army unit to study psychic phenomena (which, come to think of it, should also be a film).

Now, Stargate is also the moniker for a new private-sector investment of up to $500 billion to build artificial intelligence infrastructure, aiming to outpace rival nations in the business-critical technology. President Trump announced it on Tuesday. Here's the full plan.

A possible future for TikTok

Trump said Tuesday he is open to Elon Musk buying TikTok, and he floated a proposal that the United States jointly own half the company.

Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, emerged as a potential buyer days before the application was set to shut down. Trump on Monday issued an executive order that halts enforcement of a ban on the mega popular video app for 75 days.

Here's more on TikTok's future.

No more government 'censorship'

Trump has also signed an executive order banning “federal censorship” of online speech, drawing praise from supporters who say the Biden administration illegally suppressed conservative voices, and fire from critics who fear an unchecked wave of false and dangerous information on social media could endanger the American public.

Is this a genuine plea for unfettered speech, or a ploy to enable unchecked falsehoods and conspiracy theories on social media? You be the judge.
