Which companies have the best customer service? Amazon, Shein, Costco among top-rated brands

Retail giant Amazon, online fast-fashion retailer Shein and confectionary brand Ghirardelli Chocolate are among the 600 companies recognized for offering the best customer service in America, according to USA TODAY and its research partner Plant-A Insights Group.

America’s Best Customer Service 2025 highlights companies that excel in delivering the best customer experience using a variety of measures, including public data and a large-scale confidential online survey conducted among U.S. customers, according to the ranking's methodology.  

More than 67,000 customers offered insights across seven key categories of customer service treatment which included friendliness and appreciation of customers; professional competence; customer service; availability and accessibility; solution speed; solution orientation; transparency and reliability.

To limit responses to real-world experiences, customers were asked to evaluate companies they had personal experience with in the last three years.

The final list of top performers excludes some companies that were involved in incidents of data breaches, major recalls, lawsuits, unethical practices or environmental harm. Plant A used media monitoring platform Onclusive to identify the incidents.

Why does customer service matter, you ask? Eighty-three percent of consumers feel more loyal to brands with quicker and better complaint resolutions, based on a study by global customer engagement software company Khoros, while 68% of consumers are willing to pay more if a brand is known to offer good customer service experience, according to a study conducted by HubSpot, a customer relationship management platform for businesses.
