Cheapest luxury SUVs of 2025: Affluence made affordable

Want a little more prestige and poise with your compact or subcompact SUV? All of these options allow you to indulge while remaining economical, as not one is above the average price of a new vehicle sold in 2024. They run the gamut, with some being cynical badge exercises and others offering genuinely luxurious comfort for less. And, naturally, all these smaller SUVs are easier to park and maneuver while being budget-friendly.

10. 2025 BMW X2 | $43,625
Like its smaller X1 sibling, the 2025 BMW X2 is probably best enjoyed in the base trim. That’s not usually what we say about entry-level luxury vehicles, and it’s entirely because the M35i offers plenty of power but a miserable ride. The 241 horsepower found in the base model is plenty for daily driver duty, especially for BMW’s second most affordable compact crossover. Because of its sloped roof, the X2 offers less interior space and poorer rear visibility than its more conventional X1 counterpart. Still, if the rakish, coupelike roofline outweighs performance and practicality, the X2 is a solid option.

10. 2025 BMW X2 | Pros and cons
- Price: $43,625
- Engine: 2.0-liter 241-hp/295-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): TBD
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.3/51.7 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24/33

9. 2025 BMW X1 | $42,125
Better-looking than several BMW sports cars, and substantially cheaper, the 2025 BMW X1 is expensive for a subcompact SUV — but it’s also a great value. As with the X2, the chic base-model xDrive28i is a better buy than the speedy but harsh-riding and expensive M35i. The more streetable xDrive28i still has a smooth engine, and its interior space and comfort are among the best in the class. It’s also fairly fuel-efficient for what it is.

9. 2025 BMW X1 | Pros and cons
- Price: $42,125
- Engine: 2.0-liter 241-hp/295-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4/37.0 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.7/57.2 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 25/34 (xDrive28i)

8. 2025 Cadillac XT4 | $41,990
Recent updates just might make the 2025 Cadillac XT4 a real contender. Though its engine and transmission remain uninspiring, comfort is something every seat in the XT4 delivers, while the Lyriq’s 33-inch 9K-resolution LED screen dramatically improves the infotainment equation. Materials are also somewhat better in the XT4 than in much of its competition. Good looks and a relatively smooth ride round-out the XT4’s positives, making it a solid option. But the XT4 is also a limited-time deal, as GM is killing it off in favor of the upcoming next-generation Bolt, so move quickly if you want one.

8. 2025 Cadillac XT4 | Pros and cons
- Price: $41,990
- Engine: 2.0-liter 235-hp/258-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4/39.5 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 22.5/48.9 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24/29

7. 2024 Lexus NX | $41,990
The 2025 Lexus NX makes a perfect baby Lexus, thanks to outstanding safety ratings, great comfort, and decent gas mileage. A boring interior and a lackluster driving experience can’t deliver what the NX’s sharp exterior promises, however. The NX 250’s 2.5-liter I-4 offers great economy, and its Lexus badge stands for reliability and long-term value. There are plenty of ways to option an NX, including hybrid options under $50,000 and snazzier all-gas versions in the $40,000 range.

7. 2024 Lexus NX | Pros and cons
- Price: $41,990
- Engine: 2.5-liter 203-hp/184-lb-ft I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 41.0/36.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 22.7/46.9 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy) 26/33

6. 2025 Volvo XC40 | $41,945
Volvo’s lauded line of SUVs begins with the smaller, relatively inexpensive 2025 Volvo XC40, which nails the brand’s famous minimalist elegance. Beyond the first impressions, the XC40 is an SUV of the Year finalist and all-around office favorite for its practicality, comfort, and a panache that’s rare among small crossovers. The cheapest Volvo does get noisy at speed, and some materials feel cheaper than they should be, but the XC40 remains a solid choice.

6. 2025 Volvo XC40 | Pros and cons
- Price: $41,945
- Engine: 2.0-liter 194-hp/221-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.9/39.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 20.7/57.5 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 23/30

5. 2025 Audi Q3 | $41,095
Unfortunately, the 2025 Audi Q3 doesn’t offer much entry-level luxury beyond its exterior. Everything beneath the base trim’s skin lags behind the curve. Materials are coarse, the suspension is downright bouncy, and its 8.6-second 0–60 mph time won’t win it many stoplight drags. To get the “true” Audi experience, you must climb the trim ladder. Rear legroom is genuinely good, but most other stats aren't. The Q3 is solidly mid-pack in the cheapest luxury SUV segment.

5. 2025 Audi Q3 | Pros and cons
- Price: $41,095
- Engine: 2.0-liter 184-hp/221-lb-ft I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.0/36.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 23.7/48.0 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22/29

4. 2025 Lincoln Corsair | $40,980
The 2025 Lincoln Corsair provides American-style comfort, offering a plush ride and sumptuous seating. A quiet cabin and the available bonus of the best hands-free driving system in a small SUV make a compelling overall package, especially when you consider that it's about the same price as many other small luxury crossovers. Mixed materials quality and an infotainment system lacking consistent crispness are the main downsides, along with a snug rear seat that clearly wasn’t high enough on the priorities list.

4. 2025 Lincoln Corsair | Pros and cons
- Price: $40,980
- Engine: 2.0-liter 250-hp/275-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 43.2/36.7 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.6/61.1 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22/30

3. 2025 MINI Countryman | $39,895
Modern MINIs may be much, much larger than the vintage models, but compared to most of its modern counterparts, the 2025 MINI Countryman is indeed mini. And the (relatively) lightweight MINI delivers joyful handling, although its cost-to-interior-size ratio is unflattering. On the plus side, for 2025 its cargo space is much improved, and it has crisp, modern styling that makes the older body style look positively dowdy.

3. 2025 MINI Countryman | Pros and cons
- Price: $39,895
- Engine: 2.0-liter 241-hp/295-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4/37.0 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.0/56.2 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24/32

2. 2025 Buick Envision | $37,895
As far as we reckon, the 2025 Buick Envision is the most affordable true luxury SUV General Motors makes. Is it worth the nearly $40,000 base price? Depends on your priorities. The look is sleek, the seats comfy, and the standard feature list long for the price. Those features include an array of driver assists like forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, among others. Super Cruise was planned, but in the end was pushed from the 2025 model. Though much of the comfort factor required by a luxury SUV is certainly present in the Envision, some of the underlying mechanicals feel very cheap indeed. This includes an engine that lacks both smoothness and power, a clunky transmission, and compliant but not plush suspension.

2. 2025 Buick Envision | Pros and cons
- Price: $37,895
- Engine: 2.0-liter 228-hp/258-lb-ft turbo I-4
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4 / 39.3 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.2 / 52.7 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22/28

1. 2025 Lexus UX | $37,515
As the entry point to the Lexus lineup, the 2025 Lexus UX 250h sits below its larger and more capable NX sibling. The $4,000 price difference between them is significant, as are the differences in interior space and utility. Fuel economy is excellent, thanks to the UX 250h’s capable hybrid powertrain, and its interior is better than many of its peers. If slipping in and out of parking spaces easily is a priority, the “Urban eXplorer” from Lexus might just be worth buying, despite its stiff ride and cramped interior.

1. 2025 Lexus UX | Pros and cons
- Price: $37,515
- Engine: 2.0-liter 150-hp/139-lb-ft I-4, 111-hp/152-lb-ft elec motor; 196 hp comb.

Cheapest luxury SUVs from 2024
As always, cheap doesn’t necessarily mean worth it, but several of these inexpensive luxury crossover SUVs make great cases. Built to shuttle people around in comfort with an overabundance of practicality for less than crazy money, these crossovers make popular mainstream choices for a reason. So go ahead, treat yourself.

10. 2024 Volvo XC40 Core | $41,995
Volvo’s lauded line of SUVs begins with the 2024 Volvo XC40, a smaller and more inexpensive interpretation of the same look and feel of the brand’s main offerings. Inside and out, the XC40 nails the minimalism that makes Volvos look respectable yet understated in any company. Beyond the first impressions, the XC40 was an SUV of the Year finalist and all-around office favorite for its practicality, comfort, and panache. Not many small SUVs have the latter. There are some negatives to the cheapest Volvo SUV: The cabin is somewhat noisy at speed, and some materials feel cheaper than they should be. Yet the XC40 remains a solid choice.

10. 2024 Volvo XC40 Core | $41,995
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.9/39.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 20.7/57.5 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 23/30

9. 2024 BMW X1 xDrive28i | $41,495
Better looking than several of the BMW sports cars and substantially cheaper, the 2024 BMW X1 is expensive for a subcompact SUV — but that doesn’t necessarily mean it lacks value. Two trim levels are offered, the chic xDrive28i and the speedy M35i. For most, the base model is the better choice, as the M35i’s extra oomph is overshadowed by its $50,000-plus price tag and harsh-riding suspension. The more streetable xDrive28i still has a smooth engine, while its interior space and comfort are among the best in the class.

9. 2024 BMW X1 xDrive28i | $41,495
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4/37.0 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 25.7/57.2 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 25/34 (xDrive28i)

8. 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 | $40,950
Newly mild hybridized, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class still doesn’t get world-beating gas mileage, but it does now receive wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That’s about the extent of the positives. It doesn’t drive as well as the X1, doesn’t look as good as the Volvo, and with just a few options could very well end up more expensive than both. It does have impressive interior space, enough to include a somewhat microscopic third row of seating (an option we recommend you leave unchecked). It doesn’t look bad on the outside, but its noisy and plasticky interior make it a poor luxury vehicle compared to its rivals.

8. 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 | $40,950
- Legroom (front/rear): 41.1/38.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 62/22 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 28 / 33

7. 2024 Lexus NX 250 FWD | $40,605
Plush-riding yet somewhat plain, the 2024 Lexus NX makes a perfect baby Lexus thanks to outstanding safety ratings, great comfort, and decent gas mileage. A plain interior and a lackluster driving experience can’t deliver what the NX’s sharp exterior promises, however. The NX 250’s 2.5-liter I-4 offers great economy, and its Lexus badge stands for reliability and long-term value.

7. 2024 Lexus NX 250 FWD | $40,605
- Legroom (front/rear): 41.0/36.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 22.7/46.9 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy) 26/33

6. 2024 Lincoln Corsair Base FWD | $40,225
The 2024 Lincoln Corsair provides comfort in the standard American way, offering a plush ride and sumptuous seating. A quiet cabin and the available bonus of the best hands-free driving system in a small SUV make a compelling overall package, especially for about the same price as many other small luxury crossovers. Mixed materials quality and an infotainment system lacking consistent crispness are the main downsides, alongside a snug rear seat that clearly wasn’t high enough on the priorities list.

6. 2024 Lincoln Corsair Base FWD | $40,225
- Legroom (front/rear): 43.2/38.6 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 27.6/57.6 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22/29

5. 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 | $38,650
At least as a base model, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is cheaper than several of its rivals, but that advantage is primarily on paper. The GLA simply doesn’t rise to the level of its competitors. Less spacious, less fun, and less comfortable than other entry level luxury crossovers, the 2024 GLA does introduce infotainment, powertrain, and standard feature updates, but nothing likely to move the needle. At least its mild hybrid turbocharged inline-four provides good power (221 hp, 258 lb-ft of torque), and it offers a lot of cargo room for its class.

5. 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 | $38,650
- Legroom (front/rear): 41.0/38.0 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 50.5/15.4 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24/34

4. 2024 Audi Q3 40 Premium | $38,195
Unfortunately, the 2024 Audi Q3 is an example of an entry-level luxury model being more about the badge than substance. The exterior looks the part, but everything beneath the base trim’s skin lags behind the curve. Materials are coarse, the suspension is downright bouncy, and its 8.6-second 0–60-mph time won’t win it many stoplight drags. More to the point, to get the “true” Audi experience you must climb the trim ladder. Rear legroom is genuinely good, though most other stats lag. The Q3 is solidly mid-pack in the cheapest luxury SUV segment.

4. 2024 Audi Q3 40 Premium | $38,195
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.0/39.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 23.7/48.0 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22/29

3. 2024 Lexus UX 250h | $36,690
As the entry point to the Lexus lineup, the 2024 Lexus UX 250h sits below its larger and more capable NX sibling. The $4,000 price difference between them is significant, but so too are the differences in interior space and utility. Fuel economy is excellent thanks to the UX 250h’s capable hybrid powertrain, and its interior is better than many of its peers. If slipping in and out of parking spaces easily is a priority, the “Urban eXplorer” from Lexus might just be worth its compromises.

3. 2024 Lexus UX 250h | $36,690
- Legroom (front/rear): 42.1/33.1 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up): 17.1 cubic feet
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 43/41

2. 2024 Buick Envision Preferred FWD | $34,745
As of writing, we haven’t gotten behind the wheel of the 2024 Buick Envision Preferred, though there are some interesting highlights to the upcoming inexpensive luxury SUV. Super Cruise will be available, making the Envision one of the least expensive vehicles on the market to offer hands-free driving tech and the advanced driver assists that go with it. The outgoing Envision wasn’t a front-runner in its class, but perhaps the 2024’s fresh looks, fresh tech, and potential powertrain upgrades will go some way to changing that.

1. 2024 MINI Countryman Classic | $33,645
The cheapest luxury SUV you can get right now is the 2024 MINI Countryman Classic, out for its final year before a new Countryman takes its place. Modern MINIs may be much, much larger than the vintage models, but compared to most of its modern counterparts, it is indeed mini. That said, the joyful handling of the (relatively) lightweight MINI can be felt even in a crossover SUV like the Countryman, though admittedly that joy comes at the expense of an unflattering cost-to-interior-size ratio. On the plus side, passenger space is good, but cargo space suffers.

1. 2024 MINI Countryman Classic | $33,645
- Legroom (front/rear): 40.4/37.6 inches
- Cargo Space (seats up/down): 17.2/47.3 cubic feet

Cheapest luxury SUVs from 2023
What's the cheapest luxury SUV you can buy? What kind of SUV suits you : small, three-row, hybrid, perhaps electric? No matter the answers to those latter questions, we can give you the answer to the first one in every SUV category. There are downsides to getting the least expensive model from these fancy brands, like missing out on more powerful engines or more luxurious features. Yet despite being an often questionable value proposition compared to models with less classy badges, these SUVs are the most affordable in their category. As always, the MSRPs below include destination.

Cheapest luxury subcompact SUV: 2023 MINI Countryman Classic | $30,595
If a MINI is large enough for you, the 2023 MINI Countryman Classic is the most affordable SUV from a premium brand. This overall cheapest luxury SUV still looks and drives like a MINI , which is certainly something no other vehicle on this list can claim. That said, it's a lot of money for the amount of space you get, especially compared to the more expensive models in the Countryman lineup. Although there is no luxury SUV more inexpensive, there are some that provide more value.

Cheapest luxury subcompact SUV: 2023 MINI Countryman Classic | $30,595
- Base Price: $30,595
- Powertrain: 1.5L turbo I-3 (134 hp, 162 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 26/32 mpg

Cheapest luxury compact SUV: 2023 Buick Envision Preferred FWD | $34,795
One size up from the MINI and still largely in the same price range, the 2023 Buick Envision offers beautiful design, a calming interior experience, and … not much else for the money. It's not quite the cheapest luxury SUV, but the Envision is close in its base Preferred trim. The Envision lacks something more affordable compact SUVs with less fancy badges have: cargospace . There are other, more minor issues — like a powertrain that can be described as "barely adequate" — but at the very least, this least expensive Buick gets good gas mileage.

Cheapest luxury compact SUV: 2023 Buick Envision Preferred FWD | $34,795
- Base Price: $34,795
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L turbo I-4 (228 hp, 258 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24 / 31 mpg

Cheapest luxury compact hybrid SUV: 2023 Volvo XC40 B4 Core FWD | $37,445
It's hard to stand out in a crowded field, but the 2023 Volvo XC40 makes it happen. The XC40 is the cheapest luxury SUV you can get from Volvo, and it's a reasonably efficient one at that. But with (relative) affordability come some compromises, like a surprisingly loud interior and upholstery that could be a little more upscale. In any case, the XC40 has the quality and overall value to make it an SUV of the Year finalist and one of our favorite small hybrid SUVs.

Cheapest luxury compact hybrid SUV: 2023 Volvo XC40 B4 Core FWD | $37,445
- Base Price: $37,445
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L turbo I-4 (194 hp, 221 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 24 / 32 mpg

Cheapest luxury compact fastback SUV: 2023 Infiniti QX55 Luxe AWD | $50,345
Even those who bemoan the existence of "fastback SUVs" will have a hard time calling the 2023 Infiniti QX55 anything but gorgeous. Besides style leagues beyond much of its competition, the QX55 also offers an interior that's a great place to be , as well as many standard tech features that aren't even in some more expensive SUVs from other manufacturers. All that said, this affordable fashion statement isn't exactly a firecracker to drive, and like most SUVs with carlike rooflines the QX55 sacrifices some space for style.

Cheapest luxury compact fastback SUV: 2023 Infiniti QX55 Luxe AWD | $50,345
- Base Price: $50,345
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L VC-turbo I-4 (268 hp, 280 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22 / 28 mpg

Cheapest luxury midsize SUV: 2023 Lincoln Nautilus Base FWD | $46,220
Our favorite luxury midsize SUV is also the cheapest: the 2023 Lincoln Nautilus . Standard safety tech includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The interior of the cheapest midsize luxury SUV is spacious and features excellent materials, all while the suspension is both supple and quite stable. There are a few gripes, like the less than perfect and less than efficient engine options , but they don't keep this from being our favorite midsize luxury SUV, especially lower in the trim level range.

Cheapest luxury midsize SUV: 2023 Lincoln Nautilus Base FWD | $46,220
- Base Price: $46,220
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L turbo I-4 (250 hp, 280 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 21 / 26 mpg

Cheapest luxury midsize hybrid SUV: 2023 Lexus RX 350h AWD | $50,650
Fresh from an update, the 2023 Lexus RX 350h ditches the largely outdated technology of previous models while keeping the interior the bastion of comfort and relaxation it always has been. Despite a rather daring exterior, the RX isn't sporty by any means. The steering is numb, and the 350h hybrid borders on slow. Instead of dynamism, this midsize Lexus offers the same abundance of comfort and a reputation for reliability its stablemates have, and that's certainly to its credit.

Cheapest luxury midsize hybrid SUV: 2023 Lexus RX 350h AWD | $50,650
- Base Price: $50,650
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L turbo I-4 (275 hp, 317 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22 / 29 mpg

Cheapest luxury midsize fastback SUV: 2023 BMW X6 xDrive40i | $71,095
No one will ever call the 2023 BMW X6 middling, though logically it certainly seems like a compromise, as an SUV, with its roofline chopped in the name of style. That said, there are plenty of upsides to this not quite inexpensive fastback SUV , like an appropriately luxurious interior and genuinely good driving dynamics. In our testing, even the base X6 has covered 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.

Cheapest luxury midsize fastback SUV: 2023 BMW X6 xDrive40i | $71,095
- Base Price: $35,790
- Powertrain specs: 3.0L turbo I-6 (335 hp, 331 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 21 / 25 mpg

Cheapest luxury 3-row hybrid SUV: 2023 Volvo XC90 B5 Core AWD | $57,095
Our second favorite luxury three-row SUV, the 2023 Volvo XC90 , has few downsides. The cheapest luxury SUV in its class, it offers solid value in addition to good looks and excellent safety scores. Despite being the least expensive in its category, the XC90 bests most of its competition with its comfy and impressively appointed interior. Among the few negatives of our 2016 SUV of the Year are a rather unrefined infotainment system and a third row that's challenging to reach.

Cheapest luxury 3-row hybrid SUV: 2023 Volvo XC90 B5 Core AWD | $57,095
- Base Price: $57,095
- Powertrain specs: 2.0L turbo I-4 (247 hp, 258 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 22 / 28 mpg

Cheapest luxury full-size 3-row SUV: 2023 Buick Enclave Essence FWD | $46,195
The cheapest large luxury SUV is the most expensive in the Buick lineup, the 2023 Buick Enclave . Not bad to look at and blessed with both good interior space and a soothing ride, you could do worse with your money than this particular big Buick. That's with the important caveat that some of the Enclave's better features, like the hands-free liftgate and massaging front seats, are only available with higher trim levels.

Cheapest luxury full-size 3-row SUV: 2023 Buick Enclave Essence FWD | $46,195
- Base Price: $46,195
- Powertrain: 3.6L V-6 (310 hp, 266 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 18 / 26 mpg

Cheapest exotic luxury SUV: 2023 Maserati Levante Trim | $91,950
What makes an SUV "exotic" may vary depending on who you ask, but among the motoring public there's definitely a cohort that would instinctually associate the 2023 Maserati Levante with badges like Lamborghini or Ferrari. The base Levante only has six cylinders, but they sing how you would expect a Maserati to sing. The Levante is more of a singer than an athlete, though , even among its exotic SUV class. Such is the sacrifice one makes when spending only half what a Lamborghini Urus costs.

Cheapest exotic luxury SUV: 2023 Maserati Levante Trim | $91,950

Cheapest electric compact luxury SUV: 2023 Audi Q4 E-Tron 40 Premium | $50,995
Delayed by the realities of the 2020s, the 2023 Audi Q4 E-Tron has now arrived and does so with a relatively familiar spec sheet that may yet shuffle the market around. This is the cheapest luxury electric SUV you can get now, and even the base model has plenty of power and adequate range. The interior is certainly a showcase of quality and technology, while the exterior can be had as a sportback. Although all that is wonderful, the driving experience leaves something to be desired , proving that the least expensive luxury crossover in the market isn't necessarily the best.

Cheapest electric compact luxury SUV: 2023 Audi Q4 E-Tron 40 Premium | $50,995
- Base Price: $50,995
- Powertrain: Rear-motor (201 hp, 229 lb-ft)
- Range: 265 miles

Cheapest electric midsize luxury SUV: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Tech RWD | $58,590
A gorgeous cabin and dramatically futuristic styling make the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq not just the cheapest midsize luxury EV SUV you can get, but one of the most stylistically daring. The ride is Cadillac-plush, though details like the infotainment system and door handles could certainly be improved. Overall, the Lyriq is quite a bit of kit for under $60,000, though the ceiling will rise when the dual-motor version becomes available. If a relaxed cruising experience is what you're looking for in a relatively inexpensive yet classy EV, the Lyriq might just be it.

Cheapest electric midsize luxury SUV: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Tech RWD | $58,590
- Base Price: $58,590
- Powertrain: Rear-motor (340 hp, 325 lb-ft)
- Range: 312 miles

Cheapest electric full-size luxury SUV: 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450+ | $105,550
Six figures is the cheapest you can get a full-size luxury electric SUV, and that honor of being "cheap" goes to the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV . Somewhat confusing name aside (when considering the identically named sedan, at least), this SUV offers impressive tech and interior materials, as well as standard rear-wheel steering to make that full-size stature feel smaller when needed. There are a few gripes, like driving dynamics that are more houseboat than luxury car and a third row that is a challenge to access.

- Base Price: $105,550
- Powertrain: Rear-motor (355 hp, 590 lb-ft)

Cheapest luxury SUVs from 2022
Luxury SUVs are one of the most desired vehicle classes among consumers because they offer up the best of multiple worlds. They have the same utility as average SUVs but also feature fancy amenities, stylish looks (sometimes), and sometimes even better safety features. The bad news is that things that are considered “luxury” tend to have exorbitant prices. The good news is that isn’t always the case. As proof, we have complied a list of the cheapest luxury SUVs in 2022 from ten different subclasses that are covered in the MotorTrend Buyer’s Guide. Are you looking for a subcompact SUV? Maybe you’re in the market for a full-size 3-row SUV? Chances are there is a SUV on this list that suits your size and budget. Read on to find your future luxury cruiser.

2022 MINI Countryman | $22,750 | Cheapest subcompact luxury SUV
The 2022 MINI Countryman sticks to a formula established in 2017 when the model launched. Some slight changes have been made including a larger infotainment screen, updated LED lighting, and improved ride quality. The base Countryman is currently not in production right now due to supply chain issues, but you might be able to still find the base model on dealer lots. If not, you can go for the Countryman Cooper S trim which comes with a larger four-cylinder engine. At $35,800 (including destination charge) the Cooper S Countryman is still cheaper than any other SUV in our subcompact segment.

2022 MINI Countryman | $22,750 | Cheapest subcompact luxury SUV
- Base price (plus destination charge): $22,750
- Engine specs: 1.5L turbocharged I-3 (134 hp, 162 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 26/33/29

2022 Buick Envision Preferred FWD | $33,340 | Cheapest compact luxury SUV
Look, we’re all sick and tired of those Buick commercials with the unbearably bop-y music. Cheesy ad spots aside, the legacy manufacturer has been producing some respectable vehicles lately. Take the 2022 Buick Envision for example. The current model is the second-generation of the Envision and it brings handsome styling, plenty of comfort, and premium features like a leather wrapped steering wheel. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard with both interfaces having wireless functionality. On the other hand, engine performance is somewhat bland.

2022 Buick Envision Preferred FWD | $33,340 | Cheapest compact luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $33,340
- Engine specs: 2.0L Turbocharged I-4 (228 hp, 258 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 24/31/26

2022 Lexus NX 350h | $42,625 | Cheapest compact hybrid luxury SUV
The 2022 Lexus NX 350h is better than its predecessor in just about every way. It is quicker to 60 mph, has better fuel economy, and more horsepower. Inside, the NX 350h ditches the annoying trackpad in favor of a 9.8-inch touchscreen display for navigating the infotainment system. The NX 350h performs surprisingly well in deep sand and snow due to its AWD drivetrain, but its ride on pavement has room for improvement. There is also that “spindle” grille to think about. If you’re among the 50% of the human population that jives with that massive grille then the NX 350h could be worth your consideration. If you’re a spindle-hater, then you’ve probably already moved on to the next cheap luxury SUV on this list.

2022 Lexus NX 350h | $42,625 | Cheapest compact hybrid luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $42,625
- Engine specs: 2.5L hybrid I-4 (239 hp combined, torque data not provided)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 41/37/39

2022 Infiniti QX55 Luxe AWD | $47,525 | Cheapest compact fastback luxury SUV
People buy Luxury SUVs because they look good and the 2022 Infiniti QX55 looks good. The QX55 is a modern fastback with sculpted lines that draw the eye in. The QX55 has a massive grille but not so big that it entirely eats up the front end unlike those found on Lexus vehicles. The Infiniti fastback SUV has interior design that matches the elegant exterior styling. However, when it comes to performance the QX55 is lacking in some areas. Its steering has little to no feedback and laggy CVT transmission tuning dulls the otherwise potent engine.
2022 Infiniti QX55 Luxe AWD | $47,525 | Cheapest compact fastback luxury SUV
Pros
- Good looks
- Quality interior
Cons
- Dull steering
- Poky CVT transmission
- Price (including destination charge): $47,525
- Engine specs: 2.0L turbocharged I-4 (268 hp, 280 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 22/28/25

2022 Lincoln Nautilus Base FWD| $44,755 | Cheapest midsize luxury SUV
This came down to a very close race between the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus and the 2022 Cadillac XT5. In the end the Nautilus is just a hair cheaper. The Nautilus aims squarely for the middle of Lincoln’s line up and would be the next best choice for those who want something bigger than the Corsair. The Nautilus’ suspension is just soft enough to soak up rough pavement and the laminated glass keeps the cabin quiet. The interior features high-quality materials that make its trappings feel unique and not like a re-skinned Ford. The engine has enough torque to keep things lively, but it comes at the cost of fuel economy.

2022 Lincoln Nautilus Base FWD | $44,755 | Cheapest midsize luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $44,755
- Engine specs: 2.0L turbocharged I-4 (250 hp, 280 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 21/26/23

2022 Lexus RX 450h | $49,795 | Cheapest midsize hybrid luxury SUV
If comfort and fuel economy are priorities for you then the 2022 Lexus RX 450h hybrid might be your best bet. Assuming you don’t absolutely hate Lexus’ controversial “spindle” grille, then you might appreciate the RX’s sharp styling. It certainly looks the part of a luxury SUV. The extravagance doesn’t end with the exterior. Inside, RX 450h comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. It even has Alexa compatibility. However, despite having a suite of advanced safety features, the RX 450h did fall short of a perfect five-star rating in NHTSA frontal and rollover crash ratings.

2022 Lexus RX 450h | $49,795 | Cheapest midsize hybrid luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $49,795
- Engine specs: 3.5L V-6 hybrid (308 combined hp, 247 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 31/28/30

2022 BMW X6 xDrive40i | $68,070 | Cheapest midsize fastback luxury SUV
BMW is no stranger to controversial aesthetic choices. The fastback design of the 2022 BMW X6 is no different. The X6 is for those folks who really wanted a sports car but were forced to buy an SUV for one reason or another. The 3-liter turbocharged six-cylinder pushes plenty of power and torque to keep things snappy. Although, at low speeds the X6 can be a little too snappy. The ride quality also has some room for improvement. Despite the sloping fastback roofline, there is still enough cargo space for a four golf bags or weekend luggage for two. The X6 comes with standard safety features like front collision warning, blind spot detection, and lane departure warning.

2022 BMW X6 xDrive40i | $68,070 | Cheapest midsize fastback luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $68,070
- Engine specs: 3.0L turbocharged I-6 (335 hp, 331 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 23/21/25

2022 Buick Enclave Essence | $44,590 | Cheapest 3-row luxury SUV
By now it shouldn’t be shocking to see another Buick make the list for cheapest luxury SUVs. It is well established that the brand’s current M.O. is try and push luxury for bargain prices. The 2022 Buick Enclave Essence certainly fits that bill. The Enclave’s smooth styling is one of its biggest selling points. However, underneath, the Enclave shares a platform with the decidedly less luxurious-looking Chevy Traverse. To the Enclave’s credit, it comes with a suite of nine standard safety features called “Buick Driver Confidence Plus.” That package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, blind spot monitoring and more. You can also add an AWD drivetrain as an option while still keeping the total price well under $50k.

2022 Buick Enclave Essence | $44,590 | Cheapest 3-row luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $44,590
- Engine specs: 3.6L V-6 (310 hp, 266 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 18/26/21

2022 Lexus RX 450hL | $53,685 | Cheapest 3-row hybrid luxury SUV
Your eyes do not deceive you. You are in fact seeing another RX on this list. This time it is the 2022 Lexus RX 450hL. Note that the “L” effectively means that this trim has a slightly larger interior which gives it room for a third row. Other than that, the car is effectively identical to the RX 450h. The fuel economy is slightly worse which is probably due to its increased weight. It should be noted that while there is technically a third row on this model, it is tiny compared to other SUVs in this class. If you have small children, this third row might make due until they start to grow to middle school-size.

2022 Lexus RX 450hL | $53,685 | Cheapest 3-row hybrid luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $53,685
- Engine specs: 3.5L V-6 hybrid (308 combined hp, 247 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 29/28/29

2022 Infiniti QX80 Luxe | $72,965 | Cheapest 3-row full-size luxury SUV
The 2022 Infiniti QX80 Luxe is a throwback to the mid-90s craze of SUV excess. It has a large, thirsty V-8 engine with body-on-frame construction and safety is a bit lacking. If you’re nostalgic for that bygone era, then the QX80 might be for you. The interior is luxurious with plush leather seating and decent passenger space. Although, other SUVs in this class offer more room. The infotainment is good but could be better. The NHTSA has not rated the 2022 model for front or side collisions, but it did only score 3 out of 5 stars for rollover resistance. On the other hand, the 400 hp V-8 is quite beastly. So, there’s that.

2022 Infiniti QX80 Luxe | $72,965 | Cheapest 3-row full-size luxury SUV
- Price (including destination charge): $53,685
- Engine specs: 3.5L V-6 hybrid (308 combined hp, 247 lb-ft)
- Fuel Economy (city/hwy/combined): 29/28/29
