Igloo recalls over a million coolers after reports of fingertip amputations, other injuries

Igloo has issued a recall on over a million coolers after receiving a dozen reports of people receiving fingertip injuries, including amputations.

Igloo recalled 1.06 million 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers, priced between $80 and $140, that were manufactured before January 2024 are included in the recall due to it "posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards," according to a recall alert.

The cooler comes in multiple color combinations.

Consumers are urged to stop using the coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle after the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including the following, according to the alert:

  • Finger amputation
  • Bone fractures
  • Lacerations

Which coolers are being recalled?

Coolers under nearly 60 different model/SKU numbers, descriptions and date codes are being recalled.

How to tell when your Igloo cooler was manufactured

To determine when your cooler was made, look at the bottom of your cooler.

On the bottom of the cooler, there is a circle imprinted on it, according to the alert. In it, an arrow points at the month the cooler was manufactured.

The two digits in the circle's center are the las two numbers of the year it was made in.

Where was the cooler sold?

The coolers were sold from January 2019 through January 2025 by the following retailers, according to the alert:

  • Costco
  • Target
  • Academy
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods
  • Amazon.com
  • Other stores nationwide

The coolers were also sold in Canada and Mexico.
