Presidents Day 2025 food deals: Get specials on pizza, tacos and more for the holiday
Presidents Day is a day to honor those who have served in the Oval Office. The federal holiday is also a day to get a bargain on a mattress or to get a deal on a meal.
Presidents Day originates from George Washington's Birthday (Feb. 22), which became a federal holiday in January 1879.
In June 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which moved the celebration of Washington's birthday to the third Monday of February – and established Columbus Day as a federal holiday. After the law went into effect in 1971, the closeness of Abraham Lincoln's birthday (Feb. 12) to Presidents Day led to marketers and advertisers promoting Presidents Day sales and events.
Whether or not you get a day off on the federal holiday, you can still take advantage of some food and drink specials for Presidents Day, which is Monday, Feb. 17.
